This is a powerful **true miracle story** of survival from the front lines of war. When missionary nurses served in a Cambodian refugee camp during the Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese conflict, shells fell on every side of them — yet they were never hit. This **Christian testimony** of **God's protection** shows that His promises of safety are just as real today as they were in Scripture.

During the height of the Pol Pot era, this missionary and his wife served as nurses in a refugee hospital, providing humanitarian care under constant danger. One evening, soldiers warned them their singing could be heard from the front line — a front line they didn't realize was already dangerously close. Soon after, the camp came under direct shelling, forcing them to keep an emergency bag ready at all times so they could flee at a moment's notice. In one particularly harrowing moment, as his wife evacuated by four-wheel drive, shells exploded on either side of the road — yet she made it safely across the border to Thailand, completely unharmed. Looking back, this couple sees clear evidence of God's hand protecting them through it all, a living picture of Psalm 91's promise of refuge and protection.

In this episode, you will hear:

- How missionary nurses ended up serving in a dangerous Cambodian refugee camp during the Khmer Rouge and Vietnamese conflict

- The moment soldiers warned them the front line was closer than they realized

- A harrowing evacuation where shells exploded on both sides of the road

- Why Psalm 91 became a personal, lived reality for this couple in the middle of war

It's all too often said that God doesn't perform miracles nowadays. Well, I'd like to challenge this concept with my story of near misses. Welcome to Miracles in the 21st Century on Warren Scale. While we were serving as nurses in refugee camps in Cambodia during the Pol Pot War, And then when the Vietnamese came in to liberate the Cambodians from the Khmer Rouge, we were serving as nurses in a refugee camp, and it was often very dangerous as we were supporting, providing humanitarian support for these refugees. And one evening while we were having our worship and we were singing, some of the soldiers came up to us and said, Don't sing so loud. We can hear you at the front lines. And we thought that front line was many kilometers away. But obviously at that stage, the front line was very close. And it wasn't too long after that that we were attacked by the Vietnamese and the shells were falling all around us. And we would keep our belongings in a little bucket. That's all our earthly belongings that we had in Cambodia, and we'd keep those ready so that whenever we had to run, whether the middle of the day or middle of the night, we had our basic food and some clothes and our medicines, and we could run further into a safe spot. And it was often very dangerous as we were living there and working as nurses in this Refugee hospital, so the shells would often fall around us, and you weren't sure which side of the tree to hide on because you weren't sure which side of the tree the shells were going to land and explode. But God kept us safe, and we never had any direct hits. I remember one evening when my wife had evacuated earlier that day, and As they were driving the four-wheel drive down this track, the shells were landing on either side of the road. Boom, boom, as they were driving along. But they were able to make it out safely back to Thailand without being hit. So as we look back and we can see how God has performed many miracles to keep us safe and keep us alive when we're facing danger, In difficult situations, I'm reminded of the verse in Psalms 91, verses 1 and 2: Whoever goes to the Lord for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, can say to him, You are my defender and you are my protector. You are my God, and in you I trust. So I'd like to challenge you to trust God with all your heart, with all your life. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
