Show Notes

Two decades before he ever needed it, God had already worked out the details. This is a modern day miracle and answered prayer story from missionary Hedley Yeager, whose testimony proves that God's timing is never late — even when we don't yet know we're waiting on Him.

Hedley and his wife spent fifteen years in mission service, moving from Australia to New Zealand, Pakistan, and the Philippines. Years later, while trying to secure a loan to build a retirement home, he ran into a wall: the bank required proof of fifteen years of employment inside Australia — something that seemed impossible after so long overseas. When Hedley counted back the dates, he discovered his Australian employment ran from January 1, 1956, to December 31, 1970 — exactly fifteen years to the day, ending the moment he moved to New Zealand. The requirement had already been met, twenty years before he ever needed it.

In this episode, you will hear:
- How a missionary family's years of global service nearly cost them a retirement home loan
- The exact bank requirement that seemed impossible to meet after decades overseas
- The moment Hedley discovered his employment dates lined up to the very day
- A powerful reminder that God prepares the answer to our prayers long before we ever ask

It is all too often said that there are no miracles performed these days. Well, I'd like to challenge this with my story of 15 years to the day. Welcome to Miracles in the 21st Century. I'm Hedley Yeager, and my story begins way back in, uh, 1968, when we lived in Melbourne. At that time, we were asked to move from Melbourne to Avondale High School. And so I was needing to rent my home, which I did. And then, having been at Avondale High School for 2 years, I was invited to go to Christchurch to the high school there and be principal there. And so I needed to sell my home in Melbourne. And I felt that if I sold that, then I'd be able to be free from looking after that home so far away in Christchurch. Anyway, we spent 5 years in mission service— 15 years in mission service. After going from Christchurch, we went to Longburn College in the North Island. Then we went to Pakistan, and in Pakistan, then to the States. Back to Pakistan and then to Southeast Asia, living in the Philippines. Well, while we were in the Philippines, I needed to get some money in order to build a home in Bondi Bay so that we could We could have a home for retirement. And so towards the end of our time in the Philippines, I needed to get that loan so that I could build a home in Bottles Bay. So when I went to the bank to get a loan, they had a requirement. The requirement was, because I was still living overseas, I needed to have worked for 15 years employment in Australia. Otherwise, they could not give me the loan because while I'm living overseas, that was the requirement. I was only a couple of years off retirement, but The requirement was still there. So as I remember, I look back to the time when I did work in Australia, and I found that I began work in— let me see, it was in 1956, January 1st, 1956, in Western Australia. And I served in Western Australia. I served in South Australia, in Victoria, and New South Wales. And I was asked to go from New South Wales to New Zealand at the end of 1970. So as I was looking back, I counted the years from January 1st, 1956. To the 31st of December, 1970. And that was exactly 15 years to the day because we then were no longer paid for in Australia. My employment began in Christchurch, New Zealand. So there we are. We had our 15 years to the day. And so I was able to get my loan approved. Wasn't God wonderful? Way back 20 years before I needed the loan, God ensured that I had completed my 15 years employment in Australia to meet my requirement for a loan to build my home for retirement. That's so many years later. Isn't God good? We trust Him. He took us all around the world, and then when we needed the loan, the requirement had been met so many years before. Thank you, God. You're a miracle God for sure. God, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
