It's all too often said that there are no miracles performed these days. Well, I'd like to challenge this idea with my story of only one key. Welcome to miracles in the 21st century. I'm Ann Browning. We were on holidays. We had our two kids with us, and we were staying at a friend's home, house sitting, while they went on holidays so we could mind their pets. And the children were with us, and we were having a lovely holiday. And I had found a wonderful book. And so I was reading this book and the kids decided they wanted to go to the beach. And I said, well, I've got a good book. I think I'd rather stay home and read the book and have just a relaxing time. They said, well, mom, you can bring your book. Come, but we want you to come to the beach. So I said, oh, okay. So we got all our gear together and headed off to the beach. Drove down there, parked, and then we walked down on the beach. And I couldn't believe it. It was holiday time, but the beach was crowded. There was hardly a spot where you could put a towel down. So finally we found a little space and I put down my towel and they all went off to swim. And I got stuck into my book. I was enjoying it thoroughly. I was totally focused. And something in the periphery of my eye caught me there. There were a couple that just came back and their towel was next to our towel, and they shook their towel and they were packing up. But I was so focused on the book, I really didn't take any notice. And then all of a sudden, I saw these two people out of the corner of my eye scrambling around in the sand. And that actually caught my eye because they'd stopped packing up. And here they were like little kids fossicking around in the sand. So I looked up and looked across at them, and I thought, what on earth is going on? So I said to them, are you guys okay? They said, no. They said, we only have one key for the car and we have lost our key. When we shook the towel, the key was thrown and we have no idea where it is. And we're on our honeymoon and we are about to leave and we have no key. And they were quite distressed. And the girl was crying and she was very upset. She said, we don't know anyone here. We're in a strange place and we can't drive if we haven't got a key. And they were just newlyweds. What a disaster for their honeymoon. And they said, we're going up to the car. I said, well, maybe you could call the NRMA or the racq. It was in Queensland, and the roadside assist will come and help you. And they said, thank you. And so they sort of started to walk up toward their car. And I began to feel really sorry for this young couple. What a terrible thing to have happen. So I thought, God, you know where that key is. And so I began to pray. And I said, lord, I don't know if it's in your plan to help me find this key, but you know where the key is, so can you please direct me to where it is? If you want me to find it, you help me to find it. So I walked over to where the towel had been. I had no idea where the key was. And I put my hands in the sand and scraped them towards myself. I thought, if it's there, I might be able to feel it somewhere. And I was going to go across the whole area where the towel was and where they flicked it. And I scraped my fingers through the sand once, moved and went twice, went the third time. And would you believe I found the key? God is amazing the way he can work things out. So I gathered the key and I went racing up to them because I'd seen where their car was parked. And I rushed up to them and I said, is this your key? And they looked at the key and their eyes grew big. They said, look, that's our key. Where did you find it? I said, look, I said, this might be strange, but I'm a Christian. And I felt so sad that you'd lost your key. And I decided to pray and ask God to help me find that key if it was his plan. And he helped me find the key after only three scrambles through the sand. God wanted you to have the key, and here's your key. And they both had tears at that point, and they said, you won't believe this, but we are just brand new Christians. Not only are we newlyweds, we are just brand new Christians. And to think that on this big beach, God had you come and put your towel down and sit near us so that you could help us by asking God to answer your prayer. They said, we've not had a story of God's answers to prayer in our life before, but boy, have we got a great big story to tell. Now when we go home, we're going home, and next weekend when we go to church, we'll be able to tell everyone that God's the God of incredible miracles. And he did a miracle for us. On our honeymoon. So we said our goodbyes, and I went back to sit on my towel and finished reading my book. And after a little while, the young lady came rushing down to me with a bundle of stuff. She said, look, I've brought you some biscuits for you and your kids to say thank you. She. She said, you have helped us, and God has helped us on our journey, and we just want to show our appreciation. Don't you think God's amazing? He cares about keys and lost keys and people and young, young people on their honeymoon. I just think we have an amazing God. Thank you.
