Saved by an Accident: A Miracle Story

It is all too often said that there are no miracles performed these days. Well, I'd like to challenge this idea with my story of Saved by an Accident. Welcome to Miracles in the 21st Century. I'm Hedley Eager. My story begins in New Zealand. I was at in charge of the teacher training department at Longburn College. And of course, in training our teachers there, they had to go out and do practice teaching in the various Seventh-day Adventist schools of the North Island of New Zealand. And this particular day I had left Rotorua School and was on my way to Tauranga School. In the north of the South Island— of the north of the North Island of New Zealand. And on the way, I was going through a mountain area and I came to a bend in the road. And as I was going a bend in the road, my car went across a very large oil patch. In the road. And as I hit that oil patch, as it was going around the corner, I hit it without warning and my car started to slide across the road. Well, what can you do when your wheels are covered with oil and your car slides? You had no control. As I was sliding across the road, another car came around the corner in the opposite direction and my car just ran into the side of that car. Of course, that accident threw me back down onto the side of the road near the cliff around there as I was going around the corner. And I was able to pull up and stop. Then as I went back, I got out and walked back to where the other car had stopped. I was very, very glad that that particular accident occurred because as I walked back, I had the opportunity to look at the right-hand edge of the road. And there, as I looked over the edge of that bend, I looked down into the valley almost 2,000 feet below me. Where would I have gone had that— had that car not come around the corner at that time? I was so thankful that my Lord had been looking after me and even though there was an accident, it was that accident that brought me to safety. Otherwise, I would have gone right over the edge of that high road with no safety, no guardrail or protection, and I would have gone way down off that cliff, down into the valley far below. Thank you, Lord, for looking after me at that time, because it was definitely a miracle of God's protection.
