A **Christian testimony** of God's perfect timing: on a remote New South Wales farm, a garden fork went through a boy's foot, and help was already on its way. This **modern day miracle** story shows how one small act of obedience to the Holy Spirit changed everything for one family.

Elizabeth Serra grew up on a farm in central New South Wales, with no phone, no car at home, and the nearest neighbours 3 kilometres away. One afternoon, while she and her older brother were gardening, he drove a garden fork through his own foot and was pinned to the ground. Their mum, a former missionary nurse, acted quickly, and an elderly church friend, Mrs. Fraser, who had felt impressed to visit that very day, drove them to the local hospital. Her brother's foot healed well, and Elizabeth has never forgotten how God arranged the help they needed before they knew they needed it.

In this episode, you will hear:
- How a prompting from the Holy Spirit put the right person at the right place at the right time
- What it was like to live with no phone and no car in a remote part of Australia
- Why Elizabeth sees God's care in a small act of obedience
- How Isaiah 30:21 speaks to hearing God's guidance today

Speaker A 00:00:00 - 00:03:31 It's all too often said that there are no miracles performed these days. Well, I'd like to challenge this idea with my story of a garden fork through the foot. Welcome to Miracles in the 21st Century. I'm Elizabeth Serra. We grew up in central New South Wales on a farm, and early in the morning, Dad would take the family car and go off for the day to do farm work. Mum would stay home with us kids and we just did our thing on the farm there. Mum loved gardening. She instilled an idea, a love for gardening in each of us kids, and that's often something that we did. We were in a remote part of New South Wales and the closest neighbours were like 3 kilometres away. And Mum hadn't been very well, so this particular day an old lady that we knew from Tottenham Church, she came out to visit us. She said she felt impressed to come and visit and it was a real godsend. She was such a blessing to us. She helped clean the house and do other things for Mum as well. And in the afternoon, my brother and I, my older brother, we decided we'd go out and do some gardening because we enjoyed that. He liked growing vegetables and I liked flowers. So we were out in the garden working away and a bad thing, a really, really bad thing happened. He had the garden fork and was breaking up the ground with the garden fork like this. And next thing you know, he says to me, Go and get Mum. I've got the fork through the foot. So I run inside to Mum. She is lying down on the bed and not well, and I told her that my brother was pinned to the ground with the fork through the foot. So fortunately, Mum is courageous. She has been a missionary nurse. She is very practical. She came, got the wheelbarrow, dragged it over to my brother and had him lie in it and dragged him back under the shade of the carport. with the fork still through the foot. And so she got some disinfectant and cleaned the end of the fork and then was ready to pull it out. So at this point, I couldn't stay there. I went inside and quickly the fork was removed. And then shortly after that, because Mrs. Fraser was there visiting us, we all piled in her car and she took us into the local hospital. My brother's foot healed well after that, and we are just so grateful to God that Mrs. Fraser came and visited us that day. We are so grateful that Mrs. Fraser had listened to the Holy Spirit impressing her to come and visit. We don't know where we would be without that because we didn't have a car, we had no phone, and I think of Isaiah 30:21, and the Bible says, and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it. At the time, Mrs. Fraser didn't know why she was impressed to visit us, but she obeyed, and she was such a help to us. I'm so glad that God impressed Mrs. Fraser to visit us that day. I see how God cares for us. Amen. For us.
